Review: Adam’s Gym was probably the most basic of the gyms that I trained in whilst I was in Bali, but it was also the cheapest at only 20,000 rps (Approx £1.25). As such, if you are backpacking for an extended period of time, or just looking to keep your costs in check, this may be the gym for you. 


The gym is a decent size and located on the first floor of the building. It contains  a mix of cardio equipment, free weights and a few weight machines. Whilst the equipment is somewhat dated, there is enough here to train a decent workout no matter what your current goals are. There is a nice mix of equipment making it an accessible gym for all levels of ability. 

The gym is open sided, meaning that there is some air flow, but it doesn’t have air conditioning so it does get quite hot. You will want to bring a sweat towel, as these are not provided in this gym. This advice seems to go for training in Asia in general. Honestly, needing one and not having one is a horrible experience. Don’t be that guy. He is a douche.

The gym sells water, protein and isotonic drinks and you can grab these from the reception desk. 

Who? Whilst I was there, there was a mix of mainly ‘Stralian tourists and a few locals. It is not a high end health club, so if you are looking for chains, bands or a yoga studio, you may want to look else where. The cardio machines are old and basic and things like interval training are likely to prove difficult. I also couldn’t find a few of the dumbbells and the fact that they only go to 20kg is a pain if you are looking to train chest or you can curl more that I can. 

Overall, this is a good budget gym if you don’t mind using older equipment. I would recommend this gym to men and women of all ability levels and would train here again with no hesitation. Tip: The gym is not open late on Sunday, so don’t do what I did and turn up having taken your pre-workout already. I was basically angrily buzzing my tits off looking for the next closest gym.
